Etihad Airways Special Baggage Policy Detail

Etihad Airways allows traveling with sports equipment with a flexible baggage policy and is not liable for any equipment damage.

  • Passengers are allowed to carry sports equipment within their checked baggage allowance and with size no longer than 300cm. 
  • Passengers can take one golf bag for free, in addition to your checked baggage allowance.

Golf clubs  

  • Travelers can carry one set of clubs for free, weighing up to 15kg. 
  • One set may contain one pair of golf shoes and balls.

Scuba diving equipment

  • Scuba diving equipment should not exceed the maximum dimensions of 300cm.
  • Travelers should pack their diving equipment in a hard or padded case for healthy and safety measurements. 
  • Spear guns and harpoons are prohibited without approval at least seven days before your journey.
  • One set of scuba diving equipment may contain:
  • Face mask, fins and snorkel
  • Scuba regulator
  • Tank harness
  • Tank pressure gauge (pressure-sensitive devices may need special packaging: the manufacturer will be able to highlight any specific packing requirements)
  • Buoyancy control device (BCD)
  • Weight belt
  • Cylinder tank (must be empty and presented at check-in for inspection)

Ski and snowboard equipment 

  • Travelers are allowed to take a set of skis or snowboard equipment as part of their checked baggage allowance with no longer than 300cm dimensions.
  • Longer equipment than 300cm will be carried as cargo.
  • A set of ski or snow equipment includes:
  • One pair of ski poles
  • One pair of ski boots
  • One snowboard
  • One pair of boots

Water sports and surfboards 

  • Surfboards and water sports boards are permitted within the checked baggage allowance as long as they do not exceed the maximum dimensions of 300cm. 
  • A set of Water sports and surfboards equipment includes:
  • Surfboards
  • Paddleboards
  • Wakeboards
  • Wave skis
  • Kiteboard / kitesurf
  • Boogie boards
  • Skim boards
  • Speed boards

Fishing equipment 

  • Travelers are allowed to take a set of fishing equipment as part of their checked baggage allowance with size no longer than 300cm.
  • One set of fishing equipment contains:
  • Two rods
  • One reel
  • One tackle box
  • One landing net
  • One pair of fishing boots

Bikes
Bikes can be added as part of your baggage allowance as long as they do not exceed the maximum sizes of 300cm. Bike should be carefully packed in bike box or a protective case.

Forbidden Items on a Etihad Airways Flight

For safety purposes, Etihad Airways, does not allow specific items to be carried.

  • Lithium batteries.
  • Devices and batteries that are damaged, defective or recalled.
  • Illegal Items in the country you’re traveling to or from.
  • Acids and alkalis such as wet batteries
  • Bleaching substances such as mercury or chlorine.
  • Radioactive material
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Alcoholic beverages exceeding 70% by volume
  • Hoverboards, mini segways or other vehicles (including ride-on toys) containing lithium batteries
  • Matches and Flammable liquid such as petrol, diesel and spray

Delayed and Lost Baggage

  • If your luggage went missing, you will need to give a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) at the airport.
  • Please contact the Baggage Services team at the airport in your arrival destination within 48 hours on the contact list.
  • If your luggage is delayed, you can fill a report and track it from “Track your baggage”.
  • Etihad Airways team will be in touch to help you and get your back as soon as possible.
